Secure server
Each domain account you create has secure server (SSL) access with 128 bit encryption using a shared SSL certificate.
To use the secure server:
-
There is no seperate SSL area for you to upload to. You just need to upload your secure pages to your public_html folder and change the way you link to them in order to call them securely.
For example our support page is:
http://www.hostroute.com/supportcentral/index.html
To call this securely you would use this address:
https://lilac.srv2.com/~hostrout/supportcentral/index.html
As you can see, the end of the address is identical.
All you need to do is replace http with https , replace the domain name with the name of the server followed by /~ and then the username of the account (which you set when you created it and you can find under list accounts). - The name of the server was in the welcome email we sent when you signed up. If you have lost this, just log into your account with an FTP program and look at the welcome message which will have the name of the server in it.
- If you require secure server using your own domain name instead of the shared address you will need your own SSL certificate. We can supply these for you. Please enter a support ticket for further information.
